Licking River Greenway and Trails

Summer Solstice has come and summer is officially here. While summer for most includes vacation and leaving their home town, for me it means exploring the Queen City (and areas near)! Let me tell you about the first adventure Corey and I took to Licking River Greenway and Trails.

“The Licking River Greenway and Trails is an ambitious effort to build an interconnected urban trail through the Licking River corridor, connecting the cities of Covington, Taylor Mill, Wilder and Newport, Kentucky. In its completion the trail system will span 12-14 miles.”

I stumbled upon Licking River Greenway and Trails when visiting Artworks Cincinnati’s website. Artworks creates murals all over the city. You have probably seen a few downtown or in OTR. I decided to make it my mission to see every mural here in our beautiful city (see the Artworks Mural Map here).

Soooooo, I started with Licking River Greenway and Trails! It contains a total of 17 mural designs throughout the trails. It is quite a long trail, and we got there a bit late, so we only saw a few. I would suggest this trail to anyone who likes the outdoors and can appreciate artwork. It was so much fun to follow the trail and see all of the beautiful pieces made by our city’s own! However, I must mention finding the entrance to this trail was agonizing. Google maps doesn’t exactly take you to the best place to enter. So let me save you some time, enter the trail at Levassor and Eastern Avenue. 🙂

During our walk we worked up quite the appetite. We headed over to Madison Ave. for  KungFood Chu’s Amerasia. I had a delicious Kung Pow Chicken at a spice level of four. They’re spice level ranges from 1-10, but the server warned me that their 5 is most restaurant’s 10. I played it safe with the 4, but next time I am going for the 5. I like it spicy. 😉
